Support for Drupal 7 is ending on 5 January 2025—it’s time to migrate to Drupal 10! Learn about the many benefits of Drupal 10 and find migration tools in our resource center.
There are a lot of materials that need to be produced for DrupalCamp and establishing the brand early will help when it comes time to create those materials.
Here's a list of items we'll need to create:
- Logo
- Website
- Badges
- Signage
Lindsayo has offered to design and produce the badges. We need someone or someones to design the rest.

protitude CreditAttribution: protitude commentedI brought up overall camp theme in IRC after seeing Cyberswat's comment: https://drupal.org/comment/8257157#comment-8257157
Ultimateboy, pointed out that's kenwoodworth's job. I thought we could have somewhere we all throw out ideas which may or may not be helpful in the process? Let me know and maybe everyone can throw out ideas on this issue.

gregglesThe "camp theme" is different from "design and theme." Camp theme might be "mobile" or "desktop first" or "content strategery." "Design and theme" is like visual hierarchy tpl.phps
Ken (and anyone he collaborates with) is handling design and theme.
I think the group should handle "camp theme" if we want to have one.

cyberswat CreditAttribution: cyberswat commentedDoes it make sense to close this ticket and break it into smaller tasks, one for each item in Matthews original list?
MatthewS CreditAttribution: MatthewS commentedI'd rather keep this open and assigned to Ken and create children for smaller tasks if there are tickets needed for those tasks. Ken is on point for that.
MatthewS CreditAttribution: MatthewS commented@ken with the camp having the subject matter theme of Large Scale Drupal and the emotional theme of Diversity, do you think you could get started on some element collages for the group to look at?

kenwoodworth CreditAttribution: kenwoodworth commentedHi everyone,
I'm happy to share the initial Mood Boards for DrupalCamp Colorado 2014. Roxy Koranda, a designer at Aten, has done an awesome job putting together two possible directions we could go with the logo and design for this years camp.
A few notes from Roxy:
Option 1: Denver Skyline Illustration
Option 2: Mountain Photo
It would be great to get everyones thoughts on this in the next couple days so we can keep pushing on designing the logo and website. Feel free to loop in anyone else who isn't already on this.
Thanks,
Ken

rickmanelius CreditAttribution: rickmanelius commentedI REALLY like option #2, particularly with respect to how visually striking it is. I could go into more detail, but my gut reaction was that I keep going back to that one.
beeradb CreditAttribution: beeradb commentedI too prefer #2. I prefer it from a thematic perspective and I also find the colors more pleasing.
I'm not opposed to a more urban design either, but I don't connect #1 as much with "Drupalcamp" or "Colorado"
MatthewS CreditAttribution: MatthewS commented+1 on #2. I like the earthy tones (which I think aligns with the Colorado ethos better).
greggmarshallDogpile, I like #2 also.
timodwhit CreditAttribution: timodwhit commentedI second #2
Comment #16
joelsteidl CreditAttribution: joelsteidl commentedBoth look great, but I think #2 probably tracks better with "Colorado" & "Camp". Seems like you could still use pieces of both. Box #6 from #1 does a good job of mixing the two styles.
ccoughlan CreditAttribution: ccoughlan commentedI like #1 better. When I think of camps, I think about how they are a time to learn, but also a time to get together and have fun. I think the playfulness of the sketches in #1 portrays that mood well. We can definitely pull in more mountain sketches to add to the city skyline if desired.
eholloway CreditAttribution: eholloway commentedI really like the imagery and some of the "camp style" feel of #2, but I think the color palette of #1 intrigues me the most. As much as I hate to be "that guy" I think bringing together the sunny and warm feeling of 1 and the striking imagery and logo style of #2 could work really nicely.
techgirlgeek CreditAttribution: techgirlgeek commentedI like the idea of combining the colors of #1, and the imagery of #2.

kamorrissey CreditAttribution: kamorrissey commentedI prefer #2. I don't like the cartoonishness of #1 as much. If it were photos of the city, similar to #2, I might lean toward it.
sreynen CreditAttribution: sreynen commentedI find the illustrated style and warmer colors of #1 more inviting. Most of #2 feels a bit too intense to me. But I also think a focus on the mountains from #2 is important to differentiate from other camps for the non-local audience. Nearly every camp has a city, but very few have mountains. So I guess I'd like to see more inviting mountain imagery, sort of like 1a6.
cedeweyI prefer #1. It gives off a more inviting, down to earth feel. When I think of DrupalCamp I think of the connections I make and the inviting nature of the Drupal community.
kenwoodworth CreditAttribution: kenwoodworth commentedThanks for the feedback everyone. We'll take your thoughts into consideration as we move forward. Next up, logo ideas!
protitude CreditAttribution: protitude commentedA little late to the party but I'm onboard for #1. Feels more inviting which overall is what we should be going for.

RoxyKoranda CreditAttribution: RoxyKoranda commentedLogo Ideas
We're happy to present some logo concepts for DrupalCamp Colorado 2014. All options place an emphasis on the text, though a few include some simple decorative elements.
You can view the options here:
http://atendesigngroup.com/presentation/dcco/logo-1.htm
A: This option resembles the logo displayed in mood board #2, reminiscent of the style of an summer camp in the mountains.
B: This option utilizes a clean, wide font in a simple shape.
C: As a simplified version of option B, this option is quite flexible.
D: This option uses the same typeface as options B & C, but it has an arrangement similar to option A.
E: This option uses the friendliest-looking font of the bunch. A desire for approachability was mentioned by a few in the mood board comments.
F: Though the shading adds a nice dimensionality, this option would need to be adjusted for use in one color.
Some of these options dictate the style of the website strongly, while others leave a lot of room for variation and creativity. Think about how each of these logos might work on the website and various other applications when you're offering feedback. Let us know your thoughts within the next few days so we can continue to make progress. Thanks!

kenwoodworth CreditAttribution: kenwoodworth commentedHi everyone,
We've put together a splash page for this years camp and wanted to run it by folks here before publishing it. This is just a temporary announcement page that will later be replaced with a full site. Please take a look and let me know if you see any major issues before we push this live.

gregglesLooks great to me. I think it would be good to suggest a way to "stay informed about the camp" such as @drupalcolorado on twitter.
kenwoodworth CreditAttribution: kenwoodworth commentedNow with a twitter link. Better?

gregglesEverything's better with a twitter link.
I think it can go live as-is. Great work!
