Did everything step-by-step, with Bootstrap 3.1.1 source, with or without LESS module - no luck. Only Method 2 works

Please describe your issues in greater details. I am using method 1 and it works reasonably well.

1. Created subtheme on folder /sites/mysite.com/themes/subtheme_name - everything works as Method 2 (CDN) also works when adding Bootstrap compiled source files through Bootstrap Library. So, no problems there.
2. Edit subtheme_name.info file:

3. Moving Bootstrap 3.1.1 files to /subtheme_name/bootstrap/README.md structure

It does not work here - as it should, no site styling here, but js files are addressed correctly. If I try using LESS:

4. Installing LESS module, the last dev or last stable (tried both)
5. Adding LESS php library, last 0.4.0 version
6. stylesheets[all][] = css/style.css to stylesheets[all][] = less/style.less

I must be missing something, any help is much appreciated.

Download 3.1.1 as instructed https://github.com/twbs/bootstrap/releases

Do I have to modify anything in style.less?

I am stuck on where the document stated "Compile the ./less/style.less file. A new file should be generated as ./css/style.css."

For me when I compile I get the following error

ohnoo, You might be running into one of two issues. 1) You might need the source code here http://getbootstrap.com/getting-started/#download instead of the Bootstrap download. 2) You may need to replace the Drupal Bootstrap theme's variable.less with the new source 3.1.1 variable.less file. So replace sites/all/themes/YOUR_THEME/less/variable.less ... with ... sites/all/themes/YOUR_THEME/bootstrap/less/variable.less assuming these are the paths you are using.
