I have created a small patch which makes pathauto take the pathauto_perform_alias property into account on user creation the same way it does on node creation. This way if I don't want pathauto to perform the expensive operation of creating tokens on every user registration, I can tell it not to.

dave reidThis was already fixed with #931740: If a user-profile alias changes, try to remember that in the future
Comment #2
andrewlevine commentedLooks like this was fixed in 7.x-1.x and 6.x-2.x. Is the the type of thing that's too late to get into 6.x-1.x?
greggles6.x-1.x is somewhat feature frozen. I'd be fine backporting the same code from 931740 to 6.x-1.x.

andrewlevine commentedThanks for the answer greggles, marking needswork because the patch should be the backport
