Stomper commentedMust do. This module brings so much happiness to me, plus the functionality I need from other modules are only being implemented in the D7 version.
Does this upgrade depend on UberCart 3?
longwaveThis will be a fairly big task and, as you can see from CVS, there has not been much activity on this module recently. If people are willing to sponsor this work, it is likely to get done much more quickly.
Stomper commentedVery valid points, longwave. I've just been reading up about Drupal Commerce it seems that there a tentative plans to port UC2 to DC (http://www.drupalcommerce.org/about/goals):
"Should we port Ubercart 2 to Drupal 7?
This is not currently a goal of the Drupal 7 Commerce Initiative, but it is very likely this will happen. Lyle has intimated that he will be responsible for such a move, and if / when it happens, our goal is for there to be a smooth upgrade path into Drupal Commerce."
Sounds promising, perhaps this should provide some motivation to push along a D7 version or means to port UC Marketplace to DC?
Just an idea.
longwaveUbercart 3.x for D7 is currently under development but it is likely that at some point there will be a UC > DC upgrade path as well.
#990204: The path to Marketplace functionality looks like the issue to track if you are interested in Drupal Commerce multi-seller developments.

Vic_ commentedI would love to offer my assistant, I am not a great php developer, but i know my way around. If someone would give something to work with il be more than happy to start, I just need some guidance.
Stomper commentedGlad to hear there are some able bodied (PHP bodied, that is) available > Heitmann. I am not sure whether there will be new features incorporated into MP for D7, but perhaps a direct port to UC3?
longwaveI suggest a direct port is the way to go to start with, as that will be easier than trying to add new features at the same time. A new branch could always be opened in parallel for new feature development, but I suspect it will be enough work on its own to port the existing code.

Stomper commentedAgreed, we need a D7 option. Either a direct port of the D6 version or a new version that can work with Drupal Commerce. Drupal Commerce appears to working on marketplace support, there's a thread for it somewhere.
Edit:: here it is http://drupal.org/node/990204

j0rd commentedI would say Drupal Commerce is at least 1 year away from catching up with ubercart. with that said, those who need marketplace functionality in d7 are best focussing thier effort with ubercart. i currently have a clinet who is interesed in a marketplace site, so im looking forward to someone getting this done.
Starminder commentedJust a quick note to reiterate, those of us who jumped the gun and upgraded to D7 are now stuck in limbo. Love this module and miss it very, very much.
longwaveAs already noted, this will be a fairly big task and it seems nobody is willing to do it for free.
Offers of sponsorship are welcome, however.
adam clarey commentedI spent a bit of time upgrading some of the mp modules. I had no need for mp_file or mp_quote so someone else may need to upgrade those ones. These that ive uploaded havnt gone under any kind of serious testing so that will need to be done before putting on a production server.
Hope they help. It wasn't too difficult upgrading, the only real differences are database calles, permissions and theme('table') signiture.
Adam
Comment #37
Stomper commented@rabbit_media
Thanks for your work, would it be much more work for you to upgrade mp_files and mp_quote despite you not needing them?
We're getting closer to a D7 port. Keep it up.
adam clarey commentedI would like to and in the future i may get around to it but right now i'm just far too busy. For those of you know need this, you can either wait around for someone else to do the work, or you can bite the bullet and do the necessary coding yourself.
You may not get it right first time, but if you do the bulk and then ask for help on certain parts you are far more likely to help and suggestions from others on how to fix particular problems. It's really not that difficult, just read the 'converting 6x to 7x' tutorials etc.
Stomper commentedI hear ya'. I hope someone can take the reigns. I have little to no PHP background to even want to dare tackling this. Who's going to step up for us less coding-endowed people?
drupalusering commentedI have no clue why people jump on Drupal 7 and beyond, i am alarmed with the Drupal talking about 8 when 7 is still in ALPHA even though it is said to be stable release. There are issues with cache, update, 99% of non core modules, impractical overlays and much more. But also good things like the stream wrapper.. A piece of advice for those who hate pulling out hair coding, stick with 6 for another year and if you are able to afford donate money as hinted above! everyone has kids, bills and other things to take care of that require money. If i had 5k to donate for Amazon S3 in drupal 6 to have multi user support i'd do it in a heart beat
Comment #41
drupalusering commentedand just a thought why won't amazon spend just a little cash to provide support in popular CMS's for their CLOUDS ? anyone got a clue?

Stomper commentedDrupal Commerce Marketplace seems to be picking up steam - see #98 http://drupal.org/node/990204
Let that be a motivator to push UCMP to D7!
j0rd commentedDrupal Commerce Marketplace won't be ready till Drupal Commerce is. Don't be fooled by a 1.0 version of Drupal Commerce, the contrib is still seriously lacking. No shipping, No Stock, No Invoices. Have fun :) That's just Drupal Commerce, Drupal Commerce Marketplace is still just a couple people trying to implement it. No actual downloadable work done yet.
A port of Ubercart Marketplace for Drupal 7 would be much easier to implement and would get you a million times over in terms of useful functionality. It's also got a mostly working version on Drupal 5 and Drupal 6 with several successful stores under it's belt.
Feel free to neglect this warning and chase shiny objects though :)
Stomper commentedI'm still standing behind UCMP, I just want a D7 marketplace option

thememex commented@Longwave - Would you or one of the other Ubercart Marketplace developers provide a ballpark for sponsorship?
How much would you need to port and commit a working Drupal7 version?
Would you be able to create a ChipIn donation project? (Edit: Scratch that... I see the Paypal donation link on the project page)
I am willing to commit some funds if I know the cost and your availability.
robbiew commentedSubscribe (and interested in knowing what sponsorship $ would cost)
forssto commentedVery interested in getting this done either by contributing or sponsoring.
Is there already a branch for D7 to check out on Git or SVN?
Stomper commented@ #54, you can have a look at post #36. Not sure if there is much more though.
RKS commented@49Your assessment is exactly the opposite of what I've noticed in recent weeks. I went with UC a few months back since everyone said Commerce wasn't ready. Now I see that perhaps it is UC3 that isn't ready. More and more module maintainers are jumping over to Commerce and several D6 modules are not even getting responses from the maintainers (i.e. abandoned). So yes, you can get shipping with UC but if you want anything more for D7, Commerce is where all the building is happening right now.
Without contrib modules UC = dying slowly.
It also appears that only two people are the ones answering support questions in the UC queue and while they are both very knowledgeable and able0bodied, two people can't do EVERYTHING or answer every issue.

summit commentedHi, Sorry to tell, but I am also moving to Drupal Commerce 7. It has great concept and better D7 field and display support.
Greetings, Martijn
Comment #59
Stomper commented@Summit,
Keep us posted on your experience with getting marketplace functionality with Commerce. I'm interested to see if its better to wait for UC or move to DC.

tashage commentedDesperately want this! As D6 will no longer be supported when D8 comes out sometime this year, an update to D7-D8 is needed. Subscribing
Comment #66
adam clarey commentedIt was August 8th when I uploaded 3 of the main modules for D7 Marketplace and people are still asking when it is going to be fully converted to D7!?
In that time you could have easily learnt how to program Drupal in php and do the programming work involved to get this module alive and migrated yourself! I learnt a long time ago that if you want something doing, you have to do it yourself. You can't just rely on a few already over-burden'd programmers to do all of the work for you.
bojanz commentedAlso, D8 won't be out for another year and a half.

iexile commentedI am willing to sponsor this module for a quick D7 compatibility. Please let me know if there is any interest.
end user commentedI actually don't need the module BUT from searching on here looks like a lot of people want a D7/UC3 version. In a couple of months I'll be able to add some $$$ to the sponsorship for someone to do a port to UC3. I think this would give a boom to UC3 and make more people switch to UC3.
Maybe we should use some kind of escrow site and put money into it to get a big enough chunk for a dev.
Stomper commentedEven better, incorporate escrow functionality into the D7 port
Comment #72
amirtaiar commentedWe might want to sponser some of this develop.
I will be happy if you can contact me.
giorgio79 commentedIntegration with this would be awesome as well http://drupal.org/project/adaptive_payments :) Paypal adaptive payments, so marketplace owners can get a few percent cut of sales automatically.
robbiew commentedI am willing to sponsor the port to D7. Shall we start adding up our contributions?
I'll put in $1,000.
Any others willing to pitch in?

summit commentedHi, I think moving over to Drupal Commerce marketplace is a much better initiative!
Commerce is for 90% and will be more in the near future build upon views.
Which makes it a very flexible solution and completely drupal-native.
When you understand the difference between product display and product entities, it makes very much senses. So if this is going to be build. A Drupal commerce solution will have my vote.
Sorry if I disturb a discussion on another level. But I think commerce is the way to go from D7 on!
Greetings, Martijn
Comment #76
wizonesolutionsIn all honesty? This module's pretty dead. No releases since 2010.
I did integrate Amazon FPS with it (for the person who mentioned PayPal Adaptive Payments) http://drupal.org/project/mp_amazon_fps
...but that was for a client need, and if I were to do it over I would have gone another route.
Drupal Commerce is the future. Put your money and effort there.
end user commented>Drupal Commerce is the future. Put your money and effort there.
No thanks I'll put my money into UC. So can we stop having DC people soliciting money on a UC module issue cue.
end user commentedIf you can wait a couple more weeks I'll be able to add a few hundred.
wizonesolutionsend user: It seems I came off as a "DC person." Can you point me to where in my profile or on Google you came to that conclusion? Because I made that statement simply from my own experience with Drupal and my knowledge of the direction things are moving. I'm not a Drupal Commerce developer, and if you look at my commits in my profile, you'll see that I haven't contributed anything to it. I've done much more with Ubercart myself, but I have to be realistic. I've been using this project on a Drupal 6 site, and basically nothing has been done to it since I first started using it (about September last year).
If you are already on Ubercart in Drupal 7, then I suppose that explains why you're focusing on that. But, as a day-to-day developer myself, I wouldn't want to port it even if sponsored because what would it really add to my portfolio (unless my core business was supporting legacy - sorry, it's a harsh term, but I feel it's appropriate - code)?
Anyway, just wanted to make that clear. I'll be quiet now, and, all things aside, I do hope you get this all sorted out and I am forced to eat my words :)
summit commentedHi, Adding to #79 and having used UC and DC I think #79 is correct. Not because of the people only, but also because of architectural choices between the projects.
If you understand the concept of product display vs. product it is very smart. Next to this DC is flexible in using views everywhere, using rules for all sorts of stuff and UI improvements are there monthly.
I do not think DC is there yet. But from architectural point of view, design issues and usability to the future I put my dime on DC.
Again also not a programmer, but more architectural information management specialist.
I think this project is easier to do in DC because of the hooks, api from DC and also the hot userbase which are willing to help!
greetings, Martijn
Comment #81
end user commentedWell you're more then free to donate your money to whichever project you want to support. I'll repost when I'm ready to donate.
summit commentedHi,
A comparison between the two: http://www.markroyko.com/blog/2011/12/14/ubercart-3-vs-drupal-commerce . Now I also shall be quiet and hopefully this project will succeed.
Greetings, Martijn
Comment #83
end user commentedFirst of all not everyone who sets up a store is a developer or even has time to learn programming basics. Besides have you tried learning programming after being out of school for 20+ years, yah have fun.
Umm if I or another person is paying you to do the job were not paying to improve YOUR portfolio, were paying for a service because we need something done. Just like if I hire you for my store I'm not hiring you to improve your resume I'm hiring you for your skills and you get paid to do a job.
wizonesolutionsCommerce is better for users as well.
If I am given an offer of work, ultimately I decide to take it on or not. If it isn't attractive and I have other more compelling opportunities then my choice would be obvious. That's what I meant.
bojanz commentedDrupal.org has seen very few Commerce VS Ubercart flame wars. Let's not turn this issue into one.
Someone is already working on Commerce Marketplace (farhefa IRC nick).
This issue is for people willing to pay for Ubercart Marketplace, and for people willing to convert that money into code. end of story.

I have sponsored a partial port of Ubercart Marketplace with Wodenx. He's done a fantastic job on the components I need (you can download it from the sandbox and try it out), but he probably needs more sponsors to complete the port.

Stellanhaglund commentedThank you!
The problem is I have no clue how to work with git´s..
I suppose it´s done using drush, I have zero experience with that.
Is there by any chance someone who could send me the files as a .tar or doesn't it work that way?
amirtaiar commentedI am trying to download to my local computer using the git - http://drupal.org/project/ubercart_marketplace/git-instructions
But it download the D6 version...
Fix - I wrongly didn't see the option to choose D7.
amirtaiar commentedSo, it seems like not much different - Do sellers have to have paypal account in order for marketplace to work?
end user commentedIf you follow the directions It'll download the files locally and then you can upload them just like a normal module. You don't need to use drush.
Stellanhaglund commentedHi again, I managed to download it.
If I run into problems with the module is it in this thread I should write them?
Thanks,
Comment #101
Stellanhaglund commentedI will try and maybe you could direct me to the right place otherwise.
