It would be very useful for easy referencing etc. to have a 'string id' column on the "http://localize.drupal.org/translate/languages/xx/translate" lists. So the headers will be: "Id | Source text | Translations".

Title: show 'string id's on the list for easy referencing » Make string ID reveal link more evident

Well, I know it is kind of hidden, but if you click the # link (also on your screenshot), you'll instantly get that info. Most people don't use that info, so its not displayed by default. What's your suggestion for better display of that link? :)

How about making that # link and the wrapper div a "switch? So, <div id="l10n-show-ids"><a href="#">#</a></div> becomes something like <div id="l10n-hide-show-ids"><a href="#" title="hide-show ids">#</a></div> (note the title attribute to make it more evident).
I suggest
1. There is no need hide the link after click, i.e. do not make <a style="display: none;" ..., it can be always visible.
2. The default status for the ids should be visible. People who don't want to see this info can easily click to hide them.

No, I think lot of people are not at all interested in this. (This is just a theory though). So I would not display "useless" data by default. Also, if we don't hide # when clicked, what will it do when clicked again?

We probably want something clearly visisble, like a link to "Show ID'" - however I do think you want to pursue exploring whether anyone is interested in this.

Some people maybe are not interested to see many things in many pages but not the translators. I think if you are working on a translation and want to refer a string in your message to a fellow translator, which is very common in our practice, the only way to name it is to use its id.
Regarding your question, it will work as a switch (if it can): hide the ids if they are visible or vice versa. And also, it is a "header", just like the other headers like "Source text" or "Translations" which do not do something when clicked.

"Show ID" or "# ID" are more better (or at least make the link to blue in color)

Ok, here is a quick patch.

Ok, that did not work well (I even rolled it back on my own environment :). So I decided to a do a little spin on the original idea. However, since IDs can be as wide as "695984", and users do not care that much about those IDs I'd say (if they need strings referenced, they'll post that reference, so they are better off with a link), I decided to just display #s in that column and do away with the magic JS to display them. This way the #s work more like "list item markers" and might help guide your eye on the table. They also work as direct links of course and now have tooltips telling you so. Hope this works out well :)
