With a fresh D7 + Media install, create a node type with a Media field, then start to create an Article node, upload an image file, but don't save the node. Then create a node of the type that has the media field, and click "Select" to open the media browser. You can select the temporary image file uploaded to the unsaved article node. That temporary image will then be deleted during some cron run later.

It doesn't make sense for the browser to treat temporary files as full fledged media entities.

This patch removes temporary files from the browser, and from admin/content/media. We may also want to revisit API functions like media_load(_multiple)(), but I think that can be done in a separate issue.

I committed this, it seems like the right thing to do and noone has objected in two months.
