droplet commentedbecause login user & anonymous both can reset their password.
Nikdilis commentedA logged-in user who forgot the password might be a curious thing, but nevertheless, there must be a way to show the 'Forgot Password' in the User menu only if the user is not logged-in. How? Thank you!
droplet commentedhaha, I'm sometimes forgot my web accounts password because it is saving my cookies.
hook_menu_alter, but you should make a module...
hook_page_alter, it can put on template.php
Comment #4
Nikdilis commentedThank you, droplet. I know that almost everything can be changed with hook_alter.
However, I doubt that this is the intented way for the user menu.
I'm open for other opinions, too.
montesq commentedRequesting a new password whereas you are currently logged is technically possible. But it is functionally ... a non-sense?
Like droplet, I sometimes forget my passwords (as they are saved in my browser's cookies) but as long as the cookies are active, I don't request a new one!
Moreover, I think there is no way to display this link (request new password) when the user is connected (except creating manually this link).
However, it may exist other use cases that I don't imagine...
Find as attached a patch to prevent displaying this link when the user is connected.
droplet commentedsome case we need it..
Logged user, edit my account but I forgot my password, should I logout first ??
at the same time, if my E-mail address is also wrong, active user can ask request from their account, this is last chance and way to identify the memberships.
and it's more like features request than a bug IMO
Comment #7
montesq commentedYes you must first logout. This is the way Drupal works off-the-shelf (as there is no link in the menus to do that in the standard profile).
Moreover, if the email address is wrong and the password is lost, there is no chance you would receive the new password in your emailbox...
Indeed, this is not a bug request but more a feature request so let's move forward with this patch in 8.x-dev and see with the others whether it makes sense for us...
@Nikdilis for 7.0 you can integrate this little change in the hook_menu_alter of a custom module...

droplet commented@montesq #7,
there is a link at user profile edit page. (one of the reason why I switch back to needs work in #6)
remove of this link and tell user to logout first, it could be a UX issue.
Most of cases when you forgot password and request a new, you won't check your email before. If force your logout, you lost connect to your account, no way to request help from site support from your account. (anyway, it's a rarely case)

montesq commented#8:
I didn't see this link in the edit account.
Now, it's clear this is not an issue and such a change must be addressed in a custom module...
