In sites/default/files/language I noticed several files names like this da_efa00db1f52a7215a581763e8951a773_1.js, i.e. with an _XX suffix. This indicates a race condition in the file generation code.

This patch adds FILE_EXISTS_REPLACE to _locale_rebuild_js() like it is used in drupal_build_js_cache() and drupal_build_css_cache().

This will need to be updated for D10.1 as that function has changed.

Also if this is a bug it will need a test.

If there's a race condition, should we be wrapping this in a lock like we do with image style generation?

Title: Use FILE_EXISTS_RENAME when saving translation js files » Use FileSystemInterface::EXISTS_RENAME when saving translation js files

Updating title since FILE_EXISTS_RENAME was removed in D10 in favour of FileSystemInterface::EXISTS_RENAME. See https://www.drupal.org/node/3006851
