I've just freshly installed the latest version of Drupal to have a closer look at the capabilities of the system, and am quit keen to explore some more... one of my main issues would be keeping as much data as possible from my existing e107 website (800 users and about a hundred newsposts)

I've searched the forum and found comments about a script that would make it possible to import e107 users and forum discussions, but none of the links are still working)

If anyone would be able to point me in the right direction on how i'd go about this this would be greatly appreciated!

Kind regards,
Rik

I've had a quick look at e107, downloaded and installed locally. I've had a brief look at the database tables and fields and on the face of it the data should be able to be ported across. Can you post a link to your e107 website. There's nothing like actually seeing the data in action.

I can't promise any quick fix, have it tomorrow time frames. I'm thinking I might extend my existing Wordpress and b2evolution blog converters to also incoporate e107. There is discussion here http://drupal.org/node/108797 about it. Further info can be found here http://superjacent.net/cms/?q=node/502 at my site. You'll get the idea what's possible.

Thank you very much for the response so far, you can see my current site here: http://www.psygarden.be

it's a combination of e107 + menalto gallery.

I already have a test setup of Drupal with the gallery module that is working nicely... If i can only find a way to import the users and news i'll a big step closer to migrating ;)

There is some mention of a script by a russian forum member that had the ability to import users and forum posts, i've tried contacting this person without much success untill today. Should i get a response i'll definatly mention it here!

Kind regards,
Rik

How is the progress of e107 implementation ?

Psygarden’s picture

This is a script i received by email today that is capable of importing users and forum posts from e107 version 0.617

Comment from the author:

Scripts in attach. It works (tested) only with drupal 4.6.5 and e107 v.615
Read README file before do anything.

http://www.psygarden.be/e107_to_drupal.zip is a download link to the files that i was emailed...

I hope this is of help in any way, i'll experiement with it (current versions of both e107 and latest public release of drupal) as soon as my neck injury allows me to work on my pc a little longer.

Kind regards,
Rik

Since you appear experienced in wordpress conversions, i thought i'd bring this to your attention: it's a script for wordpress that'll import users, news posts and extended newsposts.

Maybe it helps!

Ideally for me an sql data dump would be better. I'm not skilled in PHP (yet) and am using other methods to convert data. With a data dump I'll be able to marry up the fields of e107 and Drupal. With an empty e107 database it's a much more difficult proposition.

If you give me a few minutes, I can get a dump of my website e107 website (aboveultimate.com). Would take me a few moments, to clean up some of the fields (passwords, emails, etcs...)

No problems, as mentioned previously though I can't guarantee any quick, must have yesterday, time frames.

No worries Steven. I don't plan on converting AboveUltimate to drupal anytime soon; just here to aid a fellow newbie.

Anyways, the SQL dump is at aboveultimate.sql.txt. Its not a full dump (which was ~20MB), but should be enough to understand what's going on.

If there is anything else I can do to help, let me know.

Sorry, haven't had a chance yet. I've casually perused the database tables and fields but that's about it. It's still on the cards though.

Take your time, it's not like our e107 website randomly broke down and went haywire or anything...

Oh, wait, it did :P
