Dunno if this is the right place, but clicking on "downloads" in the primary menu on this here site brings up a 500 internal server error.

There must be something up with the server - I'm getting the same. Hopefully someone who can fix it will spot it shortly :-)

The reason it's working in IE for you is that you are not logged in IE. So you are served a cached page.
There is currently a Internal Server Error (500 error) with the http://drupal.org/project page (in all browsers of course).
