Support for Drupal 7 is ending on 5 January 2025—it’s time to migrate to Drupal 10! Learn about the many benefits of Drupal 10 and find migration tools in our resource center.
Quite some time ago the DA undertook a project to redesign our membership badges. A new badge was selected. This issue is to close the loop on that process.
Badge 5B was chosen:

kattekrab CreditAttribution: kattekrab commentedIt's a bit more work each year - but how about we add the year to the badge in some way? Perhaps in a ribbon underneath? Given renewals are annual - the year could either be the current year someone joins or renews, or current year +1 for when it expires. This also serves as a reminder for people, and will show plainly if someone's still wearing the badge, but not renewed?

drummI believe the blocker before was licensing. We should probably control the copyright or trademark so we are able to enforce and control it, while giving proper credit to the designer. If committed to Drupal.org Git, which we do for marketplace and profile badges on Drupal.org, that forces the GPL, whatever that means for graphics. We need to be able to tell people that it isn't cool to misuse the badge with some legal authority.

nedjoSo far as I know, "General Assembly" is now pretty much an obsolete term, dating from the old Belgium-based organization. The new equivalent, presumably, would be "Advisory Board" or "Advisory Board Member".

lizzjoyThis has been tabled for 2012. There are other issues that need resolving before moving forward with a redesign (see: http://drupal.org/node/1611944 for example). And the D7 upgrade needs to happen before focus returns to badges again.

Jsaylor CreditAttribution: Jsaylor commentedThanks, there is some great work here! I have some Association branding work on my to do list and want to make sure everything is visually coordinated. I'll jump back on this thread soon about making the badge updates happen. I think everyone agrees it is badly needed.

davidneedhamThanks Joe; I look forward to new badges!

lizzjoyI'm setting this issue to Fixed. New badges have been rolling out on the Association page and Drupal.org profiles. This is part of an update to the visual branding for the Association. See An Updated Look for the Drupal Association for more details.
