Something that I'm surprised hasn't some up much in discussions is sales statistics. This, in my opinion is quite important for stores in order to easily see which items are sold the most, when they have been sold, and where they were sold to. Perhaps even sales history for specific items.

At the latest store we've built , we've used views to assemble which items sell the most, what brands sell the most, as well as sales figures (total sales, total shipping costs etc). It would however, be very useful to have a module pack that offers this. From our experience, views isn't always enough for this, so some code would have to be written. The functionality of this would most likely be usable for most Commerce sites, since orders and customer profiles are core features so I definitely see a value in making this shareable.

I know that analytics offers some of this functionality (through Commerce Analytics, which we also use on aforementioned site) but since it's a one way street communication-wise, It often doesn't reflect true store values. Canceled orders or returned items are not taken into account for example.

What do you guys think?

I think it's a great idea, and it's something we'll pursue as soon as possible. There's already a bit of work ongoing in http://drupal.org/project/commerce_reports, but it doesn't appear to have gone into sales reports yet.

For anyone else looking for this, there are two sandbox projects that aim at this as well. Both seem abandoned though:

http://drupal.org/sandbox/johnkennedy/1295970
http://drupal.org/sandbox/paul.linney/1296710
http://drupal.org/sandbox/victheme/1394642

Update: found another

Is there any progress on this? Would you be willing to export some of your views as features? I am looking for a sales reporting view - which products sold last much - and how much revenue we received?

Thanks

Actually, Commerce Reporting 3.x was finished in the Google Summer of Code by cvangysel, so it's a good solution now. Marking this fixed. : )
