I recently did an update to a site with older drupal core, htmlmail and forward modules. The original site worked fine but after the update I noticed the forward module sent out text email. By itself Forward module works fine but after a few search it was the Mailsystem module that affecting the Forward module (even with Htmlmail module not even installed).
Is this a common issue or has anyone seen that or has a solution?

Hi @bonof, did you ever get this working? I have a similar issue with the Forward module, except in my case, no emails are sent.

Edit: never mind; the issue was Forward's ForwardMailSystem class not working with my setup. When I changed it to use HTMLMailSystem, it worked.
