Module eliminates / before ?

When I set up a redirect to go to an external link like so:

http://salsa.wiredforchange.com/o/5997/p/salsa/event/common/public/?even...

the module eliminates a critical slash before the question mark, so it looks like this:

http://salsa.wiredforchange.com/o/5997/p/salsa/event/common/public?event...

This invalidates the page for people. I'm hoping this is fixed so whatever is inputted as the external link is kept as is and not have slashes eliminated like this. Many thanks.
