I tried the latest dev version, and it worked great for me.

Here's some advice for Drush users on configuring their site alias to automatically enable stage_file_proxy after sql-sync from live to dev.

I'll leave this here for a bit, but plan to commit before the next release (since it's just a doc change it doesn't seem like it needs much testing).
