Open Source Software for Libraries

BibLibre is a company dedicated to open source and libraries. We provide services around project management, training, deployment, data migrations, development, hosting, support to academic and public libraries mainly in France.

The softwares we currently support are :

  • Koha that was created in 2000 as the first Open Source Integrated Library System: our early involvement with the project gave us an extended knowledge of librarianship and the needs of librarians in the age of omnipresent internet and open data.
  • Drupal to help libraries to build their website linked to their ILS
  • Bokeh, a library portal for libraries
  • Omeka
  • Piwik
  • Coral, an Electronic Resources Management

Drupal contributions

We contributed our first module called opac. The opac module enables libraries to integrate their catalog into Drupal allowing importing records, make advanced searches with faceted results, circulation task etc ... This module is intended to work with any ILS by using connectors. Everyone can make its own by creating a php file.

We plan to provide a Drupal distribution with modules preconfigured for helping libraries to build their website. This is why we are working with pazpar2 for federated search with mkdru
