I don't know why I can see flags everywhere (nodes, comments, heartbeat, profile2, etc.) but in user built-in/core profiles (I have profile 2 installed but I'm only using it as a bridge, I not using their actual profile).

I have customized how my profile displays using Display Suite but I'm not sure that's the problem because I have also done it with nodes and the link is correctly added to the "Links" field. Maybe the issue is due the lack of the "Links" field in my profile fields (it's not even hidden).

I'm not sure if this is a bug or a configuration issue but I hope you can help me with.

Note: "Display link on user profile page" is enabled. I'm think of forcing the link to appear if this does not get solve: #295383: Placing a flag link on a page

Update 1: I have searched on the generated user profile code and there is no link there, so is not fault my CSS config. However something came to my mind. I am trimming the user name and lastname to avoid bad displaying and I have turned off the link of the actual username could this be the reason of the hook not placing the link where it should be?

Update 2: Tried to force it by adding a Custom Field (Code Field) of Display Suite and this code:

  $account = menu_get_object('user');
  print flag_create_link('fools', $account->uid);

but nothing appeared.

Update 3: Installed a dummy Drupal website to test... Only installed Ctools + Display Suite and Flags, after applying the one column template to the "Manage Display" tab of my user profile the flag link is gone and I'm not able to add it again in anyway!

Update 4: also reported it on Display Suite thread to support flags: #1710522: Wrong ui limit settings on flag fields

Users and profiles are two different entities. Have you checked where your flag is defined?

Also, if it's a user flag, have you enabled the various 'show on user' options?

Yes, as I said in my note the option is enabled. As mentioned above the link is present until I apply a Display Suite, so the bug/lack of feature is DS fault so I open this new thread to continue with the suggestion: #1849378: Support for flags on user profiles

Ok well I'll mark this as 'as designed'.

If your issue over at DS finds part of the problem is with Flag, feel free to reopen here.
