It is only stated in the docs, how you install extra octopus instances on a public server

I was trying to do it locally and thought I should just replace public with local

 boa in-stable local my@email.dk o3 mini

However, then my site becomes mini and not o3 as expected.

It is not supported for localhost installs (yet). You need to run OCTOPUS.sh.txt directly to add more instances locally.

I would suggest that the command for public and local installs are the same to avoid confusion, and then document that you put localhost (or whatever) into the uri needed for the public installs.
