Stew-bee commentedI am assuming this is what we are looking for in a venue for the after party. Please correct me if I am wrong.
1. Can accommodate 50 -100 people
2. Available 5-10 P.M. the Saturday of the camp
3. Servers food and alcohol (only beer and wine + food maybe an option)
4. With in walking distance of U.S.C.
5. Private room or area would be nice.
6. Allows people under 21 years of age.
Plus of course what everybody is looking for when going out, a place that is/has: welcoming, great food, attractive room, fun, not too loud, clean ,safe, great beer list, lots of parking, friendly, inviting for non drinkers, good value.
Should we try to find a sponsor for this?

Stew-bee commentedA Call For Research!
Is anybody interested in joining me this Saturday evening at about 5:00 p.m. to research bars/restaurants near U.S.C.
We are looking for a venue for the after party that will take place the Saturday evening of the camp. This will be hands on research, so come hungry and thirsty.
I am looking for suggestions but here are three places, that we can start with
Traditions (Trady's)
2-9 Cafe
The Lab -gastropub

Stew-bee commentedSummary of Research Result.
We found 2 places that will make nice Drupal after dark venues.
The 2-9 cafe, had good food, casual atmosphere, A selection of about 10 beers on tap that were very inexpensive. Located 3 or 4 blocks form campus with a decent amount of parking. They have indoor, indoor/outdoor, and outdoor spaces that can be combined for a large variety of groups sizes One down side might be that during some times of the year we would be competing with a packed house of U.S.C. students.
The Lab- Gastropub, had, I thought, superior bar food, full bar, and a nice selection of beers. The outdoor patio was stylish and more upscale than the 2-9 cafe. They can accommodate groups up to at least 100. It is right across the street from campus, but with all most no parking -- but if we are having the initial event at U.S.C. we can just keep our cars parked in the campus structures. This is my first choice.

christefano commentedWe just went to Yard House last night after the SGV Drupal meetup and the prices and menu options are pretty good. It's loud and trendy.
Yard House, Islands, etc. are all in The Paseo and this particular area has my vote. The Paseo is also cheaper and closer than One Colorado, which is where SGV Drupal meetups have been in the past.
On the same city block is BJ's, which is on the ground level so it's slightly easier to access. It's for a more family-friendly crowd (less noisy and less trendy). Prices and menu options are good there, too, and http://bjsrestaurant.com is a Drupal site :)
