I've posted a patch on this issue #1192074: Respect View_Unpublished permissions on the Content overview page which was implemented but not posted as a patch by another user.

Otherwise, while checking for a working patch, I developped my own, the one attached to this comment. In case the applied patch from the module's issue doesn't work as advertised we can have a look at mine.
