When a file is created, an entry is added to its relevant descript.ion. When that same file is deleted, its entry in the descript.ion file is not removed.

And related to the management of the descript.ion file, when the last "real" file is deleted from a folder, there is no further need for the descript.ion file. But since it is left behind, its presence prevents that folder from being deleted.

Headscratching, indeed. I agree with you the file should be cleaned-up after a file is deleted. But is I look at code I can nowhere see that a clean-up was intended. So I guess it is designed this way. I will have to check with Yoran (previuos maintainer). Like it is now, you will have to delete the file manually to be able to remove the folder.

We can build-in a cleaning process for descript.ion but before doing so I would to dig-up the discussion regarding putting metadata into a DB-table.

Definitively...

A workaround could be a "force" delete option to "forcibly delete" a folder and all of its content, including subfolders.
I was trying to delete a whole folder tree and... I did it through FTP ;)
