Reporting the following comment as spam: https://drupal.org/node/2132659#comment-8216391

Please can this be removed, even if it is not spam, it makes the issue thread unusable, and is no help to anyone. Who is going to read those hundreds of lines?

Having said that, I understand if you do not want to alter it.

I have no problem removing it (it should have been a pastebin or drupalbin in the first place), but I would suggest posting to the issue and getting consensus first-- i have no clue if anything in there provides any value.

Thank you. I have posted https://drupal.org/node/2132659#comment-8217285 asking to come here and say if they want it kept. I'll check back later.

Title: Spam Report » Extremely long comment
Status: Active » Closed (works as designed)

@WorldFallz thanks for not jumping the gun and deleting that comment.

While I agree that dumping the data into a comment was a mistake, there was valuable data in the post. I'm really not comfortable using a "spam" claim to delete comments with too much data. Do the webmaster's have a policy about when they'll delete a comment? All I can find is https://drupal.org/drupalorg-site-maintainers-guide which suggests fixing the formatting and says nothing about when it's ok to delete a comment.

If people are really this upset about the way this makes the thread display, put some effort into a patch that would pro-actively prevent extremely long comments like that from ever being posted. It should be a pretty simple validation to check the length of the post and encourage the poster to use a paste bin.

Since I started this issue, have been contributing to it for weeks, and asked for the data from @jsacksick, I'm going to say that I care if it's deleted, this isn't spam, and close this issue.

I think it's understood that its pretty much never 'ok' to just delete a comment that's not outright spam or simply offensive. Even when sensitive data is involved we usually just blank it put and leave the rest of the comment intact.

In my experience, the only other times comments get deleted are when someone with elevated privileges, who is not normally a 'webmaster', deletes it for arbitrary reasons, lol.

I'm sorry I even started the issue. It had been a long hard day at work, and I guess I was not really thinking straight. I know that it was not spam, I just saw that as the easiest way to get the post editted. Let's move on, and forget the whole subject. Appologies to all.
