the countries + countries translations modules have several issues making it unusable:
- there are no provided translations ( eg in Dutch you can't have "Frankrijk" display ), translations need to be provided for it to be useful
- when used as an extra field for a node, even manually added translations don't display
Using default Drupal country field is just as bad because translations aren't sorted alphabetically
