Hello.
I would like to offer to take over Simple Cart module.
I have noticed a lot of similarities between the Simple Cart and Basic Cart modules. However, the current direction of Basic Cart seems to be taking it in a direction that is getting more complicated, making me yearn for a simpler cart solution.
My plan is to take the 7.x-2.0-rc1 version of Basic Cart (which I love!) and preserve it as Simple Cart module - for Drupal 7. I would then provide an upgrade path from the Drupal 6 version of Simple cart to the Drupal 7 version (which will be based on Basic cart).
I believe this approach will allow Basic Cart to grow in the direction that is best for that project and it's maintainers, while still providing a straightforward simple cart solution for me and my sites (and perhaps other newcomers!), as well as providing a path forward for those who are using the Drupal 6 version of Simple Cart.

jenlamptonHello d.o webmasters!
I am interested in taking over the project Simple Cart.
I have contacted the project owner via their contact form, and on twitter but have gotten no response one way or the other about taking over D7 development.
I have a plan (outlined in the issue) that may be of interest. it involves replacing the current Simple cart module with a (very similar) previous version of the Basic cart module. I've also been in communication with the owner of the Basic Cart module and they are happy to see the earlier, simpler, version of their module live on - even if under another name. (see this thread for more details on that)

dddave commentedJen,
you did get a response although a tragic and for the issue on hand not very helpful one. For the record: https://twitter.com/jenlampton/status/425391553620606976
The maintainer is no longer working on the module and has expressed no desire to work further on the module. Your battle plan would allow the module to live on without any problems for the current user base.
The transfer of ownership should happen with the next batch.

jenlamptonThanks @ddave, I meant no response to me offering to maintain the module (which was my response to his response). But yes, I have several sites that will use this project so I hope to keep it going :)
Thanks so much for your attention to this matter :)

tvn commentedTragic response indeed. Changed project owner to jenlampton.
I hope you'll keep original owner as a co-maintainer in case he'll ever come back to the project.
