Problem

  1. The Development mailing list is pretty much dead.
  2. If a mail happens to come through, it is a support request from a novice developer asking for help.
  3. …immediately followed by replies from list members asking how to unsubscribe.

Proposed solution

  1. Disable and shut down the Development mailing list.

  2. Remove its reference from https://drupal.org/mailing-lists
(if necessary, add an archive section to the end of the page)

FYI: The (entire) Mailings lists page is no longer linked from our main entry pages.

if this is done, we should maintain a link to the archives.

Also, is there a proposal for where we want to canonically direct these conversations to? i.e. forums? groups? stack exchange? IRC? other?

Title: Shut down Developer mailing list » Shut down Development mailing list
Issue summary: View changes

I don't think there is a point in pointing anyone anywhere, because (1) no one uses the list, (2) no one needs the list, and thus (3) no one even thinks of it in the first place ;)

AFAIK, the majority of discussions transitioned to https://groups.drupal.org, which allows people to subscribe to the groups/topics they are interested in.
