Support for Drupal 7 is ending on 5 January 2025—it’s time to migrate to Drupal 10! Learn about the many benefits of Drupal 10 and find migration tools in our resource center.
Problem
- The Development mailing list is pretty much dead.
- If a mail happens to come through, it is a support request from a novice developer asking for help.
- …immediately followed by replies from list members asking how to unsubscribe.
Proposed solution
-
Disable and shut down the Development mailing list.
-
Remove its reference from https://drupal.org/mailing-lists
(if necessary, add an archive section to the end of the page)FYI: The (entire) Mailings lists page is no longer linked from our main entry pages.

rcross CreditAttribution: rcross commentedif this is done, we should maintain a link to the archives.
Also, is there a proposal for where we want to canonically direct these conversations to? i.e. forums? groups? stack exchange? IRC? other?

sunI don't think there is a point in pointing anyone anywhere, because (1) no one uses the list, (2) no one needs the list, and thus (3) no one even thinks of it in the first place ;)
AFAIK, the majority of discussions transitioned to https://groups.drupal.org, which allows people to subscribe to the groups/topics they are interested in.
