It’s official! According to the Drupal.org project usage stats, Drupal has more than a million sites (1,005,489 as of February 15) live and in production on the web.

This number under-reports reality, because the project usage stats don’t count *all* Drupal sites on the web. For more information on how project usage stats are counted, visit the usage statistics page.

Still, a million sites is an impressive chunk of the web. Drupal has grown into a global force administered by a huge and vibrant global community (there are more than a million registered user profiles on Drupal.org, the online home for the Drupal community). Drupal now runs a variety of sites for organizations such as the US Whitehouse, Twitter, New York Stock Exchange, LinkedIn and Al Jazeera. The community is now hard at work on the next release of Drupal (called Drupal 8) due later this year.
