When I try to edit the project description on https://drupal.org/node/1379240/edit I get:

Short name must follow PHP naming convention.

The validation was added in #2172891: Validate allowed characters on project's machine name
It now ignores sandboxes (after #2227791: Project page error: Short name must follow PHP naming convention.) but maybe also should ignore existing nodes...

The short name is now aegir_up. Redirects from the old short name are set up. Note the Git repo URL has not changed.
