It is not accurate to say that you can't use external redirects with just core - TrustedRedirectResponse lets you. Admittedly, it doesn't provide the allow list that this module appears to. So it would be good to update the documentation to clarify when to use which/benefits of this over TRR and that you can use external redirects with just core.
Also, be sweet if you could update the readme/description to have a sample minimal example to help users use this.
