Just to repeat my request, sent privately on 2009-03-07:

Hi Tom!

I just installed the Compact forms module on yet another site, but could not believe that it's still at 1.0. A quick look into CVS revealed that your last commit was one year ago...

Long story short: Would you mind a) me taking over the module, or b) me becoming a co-maintainer? :)

(Note that I have sufficient privileges on drupal.org to take either action, so just letting me know if you are fine with it and which action I can take is all I would need to know.)
