I don't know if it's a drupal problem or a webhost problem, I think it's Drupal or maybe I've just gone crazy.

I cannot use the word 'mother' in the body of a new Drupal page. I get a 404 forbidden error when I try to submit the page. I'm not joking, although it seems kinda funny.

Check to see if the Apache module mod_security (or another content filter) is installed. If so harass your hosting provider to 1) disable it 2) use less restrictive settings.

I can type in the 'rhymes with duck' word and a lot of other curses so that doesn't seem to be it.
Does anybody else have this problem? Go to create content>>new page and type 'mother' in the body. When I press submit I'm getting a 404 error!

I didn't say it is a curse word filter. Best advice; check you apache configuration, logs and/or contact your host.

edited to add: is this a plain 4.7.2 install?

Are you using the porter stemmer module? Someone once reported a somewhat similar problem when they were using it.

No, I'm not using porter stemmer. I was going to ignore the problem and use Mommy instead of Mother but now I'm writing an article that uses 'mother nature' and I can't really have mommy nature. I'll ask my webhost.

hehehe...why not? We should all be on good terms with mommy nature and daddy time. lol Anyway, yes it definitely sounds like it's not an issue internal to drupal. Please be sure to post the answer you find, I'm most interested.

Heine was right, there is a mod_security rule that forbids the word 'mother' ...something to do with spam. Thanks everyone.
