Briefly my requirement is,
I need to build a multi-lingual registration form. I am using using Content Profile module for registration purposes and in order to show Country,State fields I am using Addresses module along with it.
One issue I am facing is to be able to display some additional fields based on the country selected for e.g "furigana Name" when country selected is Japan. (furigana fields is specific requirement for Japanese site). I don't see the country field generated by Addresses module as option under Controlling field setup.

Reading documentation, I understand that this module may not support fields-set generated by Addressess module.
So I am wondering how do I accomplish that.
I thought this would be the good place to put my issue as I am hoping that some one must have come across similar issue. ( Is creating a custom Country field the only option and then setting it up as controlling field ?)

Thanks for your help.

If you want to use Conditional Fields with Content Profile, you should upgrade to version 2, which has better compatibility. It is still in beta, but is fairly stable. However, you can't control the individual fields created by the Address module, only (probably, but I did not test) the Address field as a whole.

Thanks for the recommendation. I upgraded to v2.

Minor clarification on my issue : I want Country component of the Address module to be the controlling field. But it doesn't show up under "Controlling Fields" section.

Any suggestion on how to display some extra fields based on the value of the Country?
I haven't tried, could this be done either by using hooks or use AHAH framework?
