I have created a patch which adds support for adding links in identi.ca (open source version of twitter). Integration with a URL shorten would be useful too, but I will wait for something to be implemented for twitter and use the same method.

The attached patch does the following:

  • adds support for identi.ca
  • adds image for identi.ca
  • updates pot file (using potx module)
  • updates docs to include info about new service
