I am using Advanced Forums, but I think the problem is occurring in the core Forums:
When viewing the topic list, topics with no replies are not showing up, so I see blank pages in the topic list.
The source seems to be the query in forum_get_topics that retrieves the list. The number of rows in the result set doesn't match the count $sql_count which I guess is used to determine the number of pages. If I remove the INNER JOIN {users} cu ON l.last_comment_uid = cu.uid from the query, it does retrieve topics, so it probably needs an outer join there.

I've made a patch against the latest branch 6 code (forum.module,v 1.448.2.8 2010/03/01). The patch instructions say to make it against head, but as head is D7 code, I am not able to test it on my site. If this is a problem, please let me know how I can get around it.

The reason it needs to be against 7 is that bug fixing is done the latest version and backported if needed.

I'm not really understanding this patch. Topics with no replies show up just fine in core forum. That would be a critical issue if they didn't and would have been noticed long before now. That points to something on your site that's goofy. As for your fix... I'm far from an SQL export but it looks as though it's making it pick up topics that have no users, not topics that have no replies.

I suppose you lost the row with uid = 0 in your {users} table somewhere.

Try restoring it, and it should solve your problem.

Ok! Thanks for getting back to me.
I was aware that it was unlikely that such an important bug could slip by, but I just didn't know what else to do, since the patch created the desired results for me.
