When no entities are available to list, the 'None' string is clear but pretty ugly by Drupal standards!

I do wonder whether a 'plural label' key would be useful in hook_entity_info -- though that still doesn't solve translation problems, as many languages need to alter nouns in full sentences.

Make sure that you create your patches with git diff --no-prefix
I have an alias for that (git df) from https://drupal.org/node/707484 and http://drupal.org/files/gitconfig_2.txt
