I also see this problem with -beta2 and i do see this working with -dev.
This commit is probably what fixed it: http://drupal.org/cvs?commit=457358

I guess this is +1 for a -beta3 version as this is a critical bug when combined with D7-rc1

Using entity head with a clean install. Can enable entity API ok. On enabling some of the commerce modules which use entity this error occurs.

EDIT.
using head dosn't work but using the 7--1 branch does.

Seems to be a problem for me too:

The website encountered an unexpected error. Please try again later.

Had to disable the module via the system table, and then clear all the cache tables.

Have you updated with the update-manager? As of now, don't do so. There is non bug with it: #989670: Updating with the Update-manager fails

I fixed it by modifying modules/entity/entity/entity.controller.inc line # 342:

form: public function resetCache()
to: public function resetCache(array $ids = NULL).

It works!

ehm, that's in beta3 - so why bother? If you running code that doesn't have that change, your update went wrong and you are running old code. -> See update issue.
