The DKAN module enables organizations and individuals to build open data portals in Drupal. Inspired by CKAN, it provides powerful open source tools for publishing and cataloging datasets and their metadata.
Major features include:
- A JSON-based metadata system, allowing you to create and store complex, nested metadata structures
- Both a fully-featured REST API and an endlessly customizable web UI for editing metadata (via the JSON Form Widget)
- A datastore which imports tabular data files into database tables and exposes them for querying with a JSON API
- A harvest system that loads metadata from external catalogs and other sources (like an RSS reader for datasets)
