We are running drupal on an apache server alongside another php/mysql based open source application called TUTOS (http://www.tutos.org). We would like to have a single login across both applications. When I say that I mean that when someone logs in, he is logged in to both systems.
I feel a little silly asking this, but where do I configure the settings for new user authentication - the options for approval and email confirmation, etc.? I cannot seem to find it anywhere.
Thanks for the help on this utterly newbie question.

Has anybody gotten a look at Oracle's patent on CMSs? It looks like Oracle is trying to claim a patent on any Web tool that uses a database to generate content and classify it. Any IP lawyers know what's going on? What are the implications for Drupal? Drupal users?
