Bio:

My goal is to develop, maintain, and enhance software systems with smart nice reasonable communicative people.

I have over 25 years of experience as a software engineer. That time includes 7 years as a software engineer architect and 9 years as a technical manager.

For the last seven years I have been developing new Drupal functionality, scaling a Drupal multi-site and an internationalized knowledge portal, managing teams of back-end and front-end software engineers, and managing outsourced work.

As a software engineer I have worked on many information system projects on UNIX/Linux (Ubuntu, Red Hat, Solaris, AIX), Mainframe, Windows, and Mac computers. I have coded mostly in Java (J2EE, Swing, Server, etc.) and C++. I have also coded in Drupal/PHP (my current focus), C#, Perl, Progress, and other languages.

As a manager, I have managed up to 12 engineers and one manager. I have managed software development teams and quality assurance (qa) teams. I have recruited and hired over 25 software, creative, and qa engineers. I have also managed projects.

I work at Autodesk now. Before that I spent the twelve years at Business Wire. Before that I was primarily consulting and contracting. I contracted directly with some clients and at other times I worked for consulting firms. I worked on projects for GAP, TRW, Pacific Bell, HP, Macromedia, Informix, McKesson, Bridger Commercial Funding, Publicis & Hal Riney, Farallon, Business Wire, Breast Cancer Action, and the University of California. I also worked for start-ups MasterKey, CV Software, and Meet World Trade. I worked on 2 commercial Windows-based software products.

I taught 'UNIX Fundamentals' and 'Introduction to Java' courses to software developers at McKesson.

I have given technical presentations at IPTC and XBRL standards body meetings and at the BAD Camp 2013 Drupal conference.
