Issue Summary
Hello,
This is a wonderful module and many of my clients rely on it to save them time in adding thousands of their products to Google Product Search.
I just got the following email from Google. I just wanted to see if this means this module needs to be updated to use the new API, and that this module will be rendered useless on June 1st, 2011 unless updated as such. If so, is this something that can be accomplished by then?

Thank you for participating in Google Shopping. According to our records, you're currently using the Google Base Data API to submit your product listings to Google Product Search. On December 17, 2010, we announced the retirement of the Google Base Data API and transition to the new Google Content API for Shopping (http://googlemerchantblog.blogspot.com/2010/12/new-shopping-apis-and-dep...).
Starting from June 1st, 2011, it will no longer be possible to submit content using the Google Base Data API. In order for you items to continue appearing in Google Product Search results without interruption, we encourage you to start transitioning to the new Content API as soon as possible.

Is there anyone that is actively working with the new Google API to build an alternative to Googlebase or UC_Gbase? Would the framework for these modules still function with the new API? I have just started the process of learning PHP so I am not ready to take on this task. I have other programming skills that are a little rusty but given our current API expires June 1, I don't believe that I can get up to speed in time.
There are 229 reported installs of either googlebase or UC_Gbase running so this would be of value to many of them. I guess there is no way to contact all of the users of these modules to see if they are active in working on a new module. I really would like to avoid the same condition that arose when USPS changed their API and caused a minor panic with everyone panicking after the fact instead of putting in the effort in advance. It didn't help that USPS didn't give any notice of the change.
If you are updating or building a new module, please let us know here so we can all possibly help.

This is a very good module and saves a lot of time reflecting our products on Google product search when they are created/updated.
Would appreciate any news on an update to this module, alternative modules etc.

Cybersysop, I experienced the USPS change panic as well and definitely agree. I personally don't believe i have enough knowledge of this module or Google's API combined with enough resources/time between now and June to work on the module/update myself; however, i would be happy to throw $$ in to the pot if someone could devote attention to this and have it ready by the deadline.

I just wanted to share another reason in addition to the above (probably should be committed and worked on around the same time if it's feasible) that this module very much needs some updates/attention soon:

bumping this since June 1st, 2011 is now almost only 1 month away - coming up fast. What do we do if we never hear from this project's maintainer? arpieb has offered to help here: http://drupal.org/node/1080876 , but there's still been no response from the maintainer.
anyone have any thoughts or updates?
