If you have hundreds of images (pretty common I think) on the web site you would want an easy way of reaching each one of them - especially when inserting media in a WYSIWYG editor. Media Gallery already provides for grouping of images into galleries but finding the right image to insert is still as tedious as if the gallery wasn't there.
Currently the Media Browser has three tabs: "Upload", "Web" and "Library". Why not add another tab (let's say) called "Gallery", which will allow users to reach their images through the galleries they belong to?

camdarley commentedI think this is what you need : #969010: Ability to create folders
I think galleries are for users and front-end use, admins need a different way to classify their medias.

kirilius commentedHmmm... it is more complicated than I thought but could do the job. I personally need one way of organizing my photos.

kash83 commentedI need an option like "kirilius" described too.
It would be very nice to do that with an new tab called "gallery" to select the galleries/albums and insert them into nodes.

I created a contrib module in the last few weeks called: Media Gallery picker. Today I created the first beta version. Feel free to test it!
