Is there a step by step to implement this in D7?
I feel I have it set up correctly, however each time I go in to edit the content the data input into the location map field, nothing shows. However, if I add location data to the location module at the bottom of the content input, then that data shows in my content - http://movemaine.com/node/2
Am I missing something?
thanks!

yannick menard commentedsame issue here : no saved fields and no map
Comment #2
movemaine commentedYeah, I played and played with it.
Since this is going to be a production site, I think I'm going to have to continue in 6.x until the 7.x modules are mature.

protools commentedI have too
add location data in to the field, set marker on map - and all look as good, but when i save node, on node page shows only label, but map is empty.
in display field i set different preset, but nothing help
when i came back to the edit in this field nothing saved, but in location module at the bottom of the content input data saved

movemaine commentedI have ended up using this:
https://github.com/mindtree/BingMapsDrupal
Bing Maps for Drupal.
Works quite well, minimal set up. I have yet to run into any bugs.
update - no bugs with Bartik theme and firefox, however ran into issues with other browsers and some sort of conflict with the colorbox or shadowbox modules.

upupax commentedSame problem here.
Coordinates are not geolocated if left empty.
I have to drag'n'drop a marker on the map to get them.
I think this is not the proposed behavior.

Jerome F commentedThe system doesn't attempt to determine a latitude and longitude for me from the entered address, the longitude and latitude aren't saved and the map is not displayedn either in content display nor by the views handler.
1) I wonder if this is an issue because I use a location field (aka. location CCK) instead of the D6-like content location form (aka. node location).
1) EDIT : no, I installed, configured Node location and deleted the location field and uninstalled CCK location, it didn't solve the problem, the latitude/ longitude is still not saved.
2) Or this is because I use it for adresses in Belgium, where there is no map links available in: admin/config/content/location/maplinking
3) Or this is because I have to enable google maps in: admin/config/content/location/geocoding
3) EDIT : no, this is not the source of the problem

Jerome F commentedEven if I select the marker manually, the coordinates are saved (and I have noticed that there is a little gray marker on the map in node edit over my big red marker... wired, does that mean Gmap nearly works?) the map is not displayed in my view.
Jerome F commentedWith node location enabled, and user defined marker, the Location map block is displayed ok.
And apparently once I deleted location CCK module I don't have a views handler for GMap anymore, so there is no way it could be displayed in my view anymore. I can't even have a map link, as there is none for belgium (related page in handbook: http://drupal.org/node/1098164 related issue http://drupal.org/node/1072894).

NickWebman commentedsame problem here.
no matter what I do - no love.
I have the Gmap Add-ons module running as well, if that makes a difference.
BoNzOo commentedSame problem but solved:
- disable Location CCK and all GMAP module
- enable Location CCK, add location field on type of content, now if you add location on content, coordinates are correctly saved
- enable GMAP module and now you can display Google Map correctly
(sorry for my poor english)

coloryan commentedI had the same issue and followed the instructions in #10 - worked for me.
To expand on his point, I had to stop (uninstall) node locations and begin using locations CCK.
EmpireNM commentedI think #10 only works temporarily. It seems no new data can be added once the Gmaps module is enabled again.

ioesf commentedSame issue, i think:
Using location cck, and with node locations disabled, when I type in an address to the location field it does not become a map marker. This, from the node edit page below the latitude and longitude, does not seem to happen: "If you leave these fields blank, the system will attempt to determine a latitude and longitude for you from the entered address."
However if I drag and drop a marker while editing the node, the system does determine longitude and latitude, and a marker is recorded. Unfortunately this is a lot less precise.
The suggestion in #10 did not change this behavior for me. I also had the same problem with node locations enabled and location cck disabled.
looks like from several other threads that something is off is the geocoding.

Same issue the workarround of number 10 didn't work for me. Uninstalled everything not only dissabled but no map shows up. Hope this gets a fix soon.

update: It's a shame but it seems that I only have to enable the "Use a Google Map to set latitude and longitude" in the location module settings. Now everything happens as it is supposed. I hope this helps people haveing the same issue.

ioesf commentedenable "Use a Google Map to set latitude and longitude"
no change for me. are you using the location cck or node locations module?
podarokcan anyone test it with latest dev?

blicarea commentedI thought I was having a similar problem (fields were being recorded, but no map was showing up), and I tried everything #10 and #11 suggested -- until I realized that I was using a city with a blank address. Plugging in a street address revealed a nice Google Map.
It would be nice if this module worked without a street address, but who am I to complain.
