Changing status of todos assigned to multiple people

I have a todo like "Do the presentation" assigned to multiple people, Kate, Tom, Jill, and James.

in my view I allow each to see the item assigned to them.

Jill and Tom finish the item, but not tom and James.

How can I show this? Does "closed" apply to the task and all people will show closed?
