I see that SexyBookmarks shows this sort of message even to guest users who haven't logged in.

danny englanderSame issue here.
decipheredYes, this is a Drupal issue, one of the core file functions sets a message regardless of who's logged in.
I do have a workaround in mind to fix it, shouldn't be to far off, just short on time at the minute.
danny englanderIt looks like there may be a possible workaround for this: http://drupal.org/node/371157#comment-4530430

decipheredFix committed to 6.x-2.x, dev should be out shortly.
I'd prefer not to release another point release for such a minor issue, but if nothing else comes up within a week I may.
The messages will now only show if you have the permission to 'administer sexybookmarks'.
Cheers,
Deciphered.

anybodySorry but there are so many *non-intelligent* issues in the 2.0 release... unbelievable!
Some quality assurance would help in future development ... this may not happen in an official release, which also fixes bugs!!
Anyway... thank you for solving this issue. Please provide DEV asap!
decipheredYou sir, are a royal asshole. It's people like you that make developers bitter and cold. How dare you...
Why don't you stop bitching about *non-intelligent* issues and provide a valid example, and suggest a fix for the issues.
This particular issue is not an issue with the module, but an issue with one for the Drupal core functions, which requires a workaround to be put in place to resolve it. I clearly stated that this issue has been fixed, and that the dev would be out shortly. I have no control over when the dev is released as it comes out on a preset cycle.
Even if I had control over it, you have no right to demand anything, I work a full time job, commute up to 3 hours to work a day, help my wife raise my 6 month old child, and still make the time to give back as much code as I can to the community, so f**k you!
rcross commented+1 - the only valid demands are those you put on yourself
Comment #8
skwashd commented@Anybody this is rude and unprofessional behaviour. You owe Deciphered a public apology.
polI like the comment #6, it makes my day.
Thanks Deciphered for your dedication and your module !

decipheredThanks guys, I appreciate the support. I shouldn't have lost my head, but I still stand by my poorly worded rant.
Cheers,
Deciphered.

rcross commentedIn the name of community, I would just like to add a bit more explanation for our friend at #5:
An open source project and its ecosystem are driven very much by the same social norms as any other group. I'd like to think of a good metaphor, but they aren't coming to me at the moment.
Suffice it to say, you wouldn't walk up to a group of strangers that might be offering free backrubs to their friends and squeeze in a free backrub for yourself, then declare they are doing a bad job and demand that they do it the way you want and give you another free backrub right away. Instead, you would probably be more likely to see everyone nicely giving each other backrubs and either offer to give someone a backrub to be part of the group, or if you're lucky enough to get a free backrub first you would say thanks and try to give someone else a backrub. You might ask nicely for someone to massage more on the lower back, but you probably wouldn't yell at someone unless they hurt your back.
However, if you go to a masseuse and lay down your cash for a professional job then you can easily dictate how it should be done and complain immediately if its not done how you asked.
I was originally tempted to say "you get what you pay for" - but that is often used as a backhanded compliment which suggests that Drupal is crappy because its free and that is definitely not true. I think the more appropriate is probably more, "you get back what you put in" or "you reap what you sow". So, unless you're giving back (in code, documentation, support, backrubs, etc) that is equal or greater to Stuart's, then you don't really have much of a position to complain or make unreasonable requests.
Feedback is an important type of contribution, but that is not just filing feature requests or complaining about bugs that are not fixed very fast. Feedback needs to be constructive.
If you need some more help (i.e. your back is still sore), don't be afraid to ask (get a free backrub). Try looking at http://drupal.org/dcoc or http://drupal.org/contribute for more guidance.
P.S. I don't do free backrubs because that would probably be creepy, but I've always got some free hugs to give.

nicksanta commentedRyan, a great (yet somewhat creepy) metaphor :)
Stu, you rock hard enough that you could stop rocking but all the previous rocks you made would still rock out for a long time.

anybodyHello guys,
I hope you enjoyed those replies and I have to admit that I deserved them.
I just read my entry and was a bit shocked what I wrote that day in rage. I am really sorry for that disrespectfulness. Especially because I hate those kind of (it's not even, because there is nothing to learn from) criticism myself. I also replied to the module developer on my blog at:
http://julian.pustkuchen.com/drupal-sexy-bookmarks-dienste-verschieben-i...
And on Daves entry in German:
http://julian.pustkuchen.com/drupal-sexy-bookmarks-modul-quickfix-direct...
Especially I would like to use this post to say sorry to Stuart. It would have been better for me to shut up and cool down but not posting this crap. You may read some other posts, this is really really not the kind I normally act and such a thing never happened to me before. Perhaps I should think about holidays and relax a bit more.
I really apologize (but don't know how to further exaggerate that in English). Let me say in German: Es tut mir von Herzen leid.
I hope that you Stuart and you, the great Drupal Community, will forgive me that stupidity.

hailaz commentedWhen is this being released please? I'm using the dev version but it's still reporting
The directory sites/default/files/sexybookmarks/aac8a584c753dac71865e338e6e3fe1e has been created.
I'm presuming it hasn't been done yet?

decipheredamandajane,
You can see the message because you have permission to see the message.
Please stop commenting in a closed issue.
hailaz commentedExcuse my lack of knowledge, the dev version doesn't work for me so I posted.
I didn't realise it wasn't ok to post on an issue if you're still having the same problem. It's appearing for anonymous users too, not just admin.
