As noted in #4 and #5 we already have http://drupal.org/project/geocoder, why do we need this ported to D7? Geocoder is much more generic, and are able to use multiple sources. If Geocoder are missing a feature let's add it there instead of spending time porting this to D7.

shawn dearmond commentedThe Geocoder module seems to be the direction this functionality will be taking in Drupal 7:

steinmb commentedAs far as I know will there be no D7 version of this module. I would look elsewhere, geocoder is a good starting place.

nagiek commentedIf you ever felt like opening up this can of worms, the Geolocation project seems like a good place to start.

francewhoa+1 for a Drupal 7 port. I would be happy to contribute testing and documentation.

mttjn commentedi might be missing something but http://drupal.org/project/geocoder doesn't provide the same shiny simplicity where you can just start typing and it auto-fills the address you're entering.. see http://drupal.org/node/638986
...or does it?
I'd be happy to pay to get this functionality added if needed. Anyone up for it?

mttjn commentedok answered my own question :)
use this http://drupal.org/project/geocoder_autocomplete but get this patch http://drupal.org/node/1363676 otherwise you will see errors immediately after installation.
works great so far.
