Nodes still treated as Simplenews content even if deselected

I am still getting the Page node and other nodes showing the "newsletter" field and the "save and send test" button, even though I have deselected these as content types from the Simplenews Content Selection configuration. What can I do to fix this?

This may also relate to another issue that I logged where nodes shows a "Published in xxxx newsletter" notification on the screen, even though those nodes were deselected as Simplenews content types.
