Carm.org has an incredible navigation bar on the right side (they are using Drupal 6). How can I get a similar affect on Drupal 7? I want to build a site different in design and purpose, but with similar navigation.

Thanks.

This type of navigation is called an "accordion".
Try one of these modules:

Accordion Blocks - http://drupal.org/project/accordion_blocks

Accordion Menu - http://drupal.org/project/accordion_menu

Thank you. How do I get the navigation pages that he has that links to the pages in the category? Is that a book?

Perhaps it is a menu? See "Working with Menus" - http://drupal.org/documentation/modules/menu

Thanks. I'll toy around with it tonight. I'm not use to the menus. This is the first time using drupal (and so far, I love it; much better than joomla),

The site you referred to actually used a templating program called 'Artisteer'. The menu is a feature they call the 'vertical menu'. Drupal 6 has a couple of modules with similar action. Not sure what's been ported to D7.

Artisteer costs 130$ per year if you want to export drupal/Joomla themes. But be aware that whilst Artisteer can look good initially, the exported theme only really gets you 80% finished; there is still a lot of themeing that has to be done - as always, the devil is in the details. Further, the generated templates ignore most of the Drupal theme conventions, and some of it may clash with Drupal output unless you keep your sites simple.

If you're using Artisteer to make several paid cookie-cutter websites for small businesses, it might be worth the money. If you're just making one blog for yourself, personally I'd buy a good theme instead.

Thanks. I looked at artiseer before using the free trial and it looks good.

I'm using drupal gardens and that is unavailable. Is there an alternative?

Bump.

I'm on drupal gardens. Is there a way to get a similar effect?

One of the "features" of Drupal Gardens is a set number of modules that work well on their site. See http://www.drupalgardens.com/documentation/using-features-and-modules . You should contact Drupal Gardens for other options or perhaps look at hosting on another provider.

I emailed them with my request and they put it to the request department. They have excellent customer service.
My plans are to build on drupalgardens then eventualky move the site to an independent server using the export site feature.
