As we all know SMSFramework 7 is dead on arrival. There are a series of patches that are floating around the issue queue that just need to be committed. Univate ( the current maintainer ) is open to a new maintainer coming in for the Drupal 7 piece and would like the communities response here and any possible candidates that may want to be the maintainer.

NROTC_Webmaster commentedI would be willing to pick it up but I would prefer not to. My only hesitation is that I will be changing jobs in about a month and I'm not sure how much free time I'm going to have after that. I would love to see this get the support it deserves so I would prefer to be a co-maintainer with someone else stepping up to take full ownership of the project.

mcpuddin commentedI'd be happy to be co-maintainer with you. I can at least dedicate my time to get "smsframework" and "sms_twilio" off the ground so they actually work.

ronsnow commentedThis is great that Kelly and James are willing to put their time and talents into this module for D7, at least to get it to a working level. Hopefully others with SMS experience would be willing to help take on ownership too.

rbosscher commentedI've created a custom gateway module for a dutch SMS provider Mollie.
I'am going to publish this module here on drupal after I've tested it.
I did allready some serious digging in this module so I'd be happy to help.

mcpuddin commentedAnything we can do to accelerate this? I have some time in the coming weeks and I think we can really get SMS d7 compatible

christianchristensen commented+1 I think @mcpuddin should shepherd in the pending D7 patches as a maintainer/co-maintainer!
As a little history: we use the D6 SMS Framework and jumping over the D7 version was *quite* jarring (as noted here - it has been pretty dead). I took on the effort to get a running version from the patches in the issue queues (for my Drupalcon Twilio contest submission: http://drupal.org/sandbox/christianchristensen/1489024) - and almost all of the patches originated from @mcpuddin ...
IMO this module is a pretty big deal for the proper "plumbing" of pushing together Notifications/Messages + delivery settings + SMS.

play4quarters commentedHi Gang.
Just chiming in.
I'm got a few big customers chomping at the bit for SMS...and unfortunately all my site building has been in Drupal 7. This is a feature we really need to compliment what we can do with mobile. In the case of my site-building mobile is a very big part of it.
Thought I'm not a developer, I'd be happy to assist with any testing, case study discussions etc.
If there's any progress that can be made, it would be a huge plus for all of us.
I can't stress enough how much interest there is.
If it helps...It's SMS with Twilio that I'm interested in as well.
Thanks!

mcpuddin commentedHey play4quarters, Twilio is also what I'm using and I also have a big customer using it. Please do email univate ( the current maintainer of this module ) to help bump this message.

nmcclain commented+1 supporting bringing on @mcpuddin as a co-maintainer!!! He has provided significant guidance and leadership getting us closer to a working D7 version of both the SMS framework and the sms_twilio module.
ronsnow commentedyes, thank you @mcpuddin for your time and effort. I will certainly put some time in on QA/testing. Hopefully, with help, SMS on D7 will be a reality and ready for prime time in the near future.
