The module description states that it makes searching for term synonyms possible. However, it also adds parent terms and their synonyms to the index. This may or may not be what you want, and I think it's important that you either have an option to disable this or at least that it's clearly stated what the module does.

I don't think so. The point here is that all parent terms of a chosen term – and their synonyms – are added to the index. The parent terms are not added in Drupal core.

The other issue is about the fact that the chosen term was added twice.

The easiest "fix" for this issue is to add a piece of text on the project page: Synonyms also makes it possible to find a node through the parents of any term that the node is tagged with, as well as the parents' synonyms.

Don't know if that's readable, but anyway...
