Thanks for a super module! Just great!

One thing I would like though is the ability to schedule/delay the sending of the newsletter. Maybe it could be one of the sending options: Send later. And then there could be a date and time input.

If you think this could be something, I would like to help you make it.

There is also the simplenews scheduler newsletter module for 5.x which may help

Agree this would be great.

The simplenews scheduler does not seem to meet this need, as it sets up a recurring send for the same issue (e.g. send the same newsletter with the same content every day at 1pm).

@Mike: Than I suggest you create a feature request for simplenews scheduler. I'd rather have this functionality as a separate module than in Simplenews core.
And for this reason I mark this issue won't fix.

not quite, you would use something like views_insert to get the view output of something into your newsletter, this is recompiled each time into static html as a freshnewsletter and subsequently mailed out
