Hi,

The installation of Drupal modules isn't possible with http or by uploading files! Cartaro demands always FTP Server!

"Installing modules and themes requires FTP access to your server. See the handbook for other installation methods."

The handbook provides no solution.

have a look at http://drupal.org/documentation/install/modules-themes/modules-7

"Option 2: Upload the module manually" should always work.
